ABU DHABI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 15th Nov, 2018) ADNOC Drilling, an Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) subsidiary, held the 14th Rig Owners Seminar, today, on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC).
The annual seminar, co-hosted with DNV GL, an international accredited registrar and classification society, serves as a vital platform for rig owners and classification bodies, operating companies and marine and offshore service providers to exchange knowledge and share best practices to enhance drilling operation efficiency, rig integrity and HSE performance.
Abdalla Saeed Al Suwaidi, ADNOC Drilling CEO, said, "ADNOC plays a leading role in promoting the dialogue and cooperation among industry players in the region, as well as identifying and supporting initiatives that provide fresh impetus to key petroleum industry issues and challenges. With this in mind, this year’s seminar, entitled ‘Technology adoption: the Primary driver of operational efficiency,’ tackles a key subject that has a profound impact on oil exploration and production.
"Technological advancement, automation, and digitisation are reshaping the oil and gas exploration landscape and creating new opportunities for the drilling industry to achieve heightened levels of efficiency, reliability, and profitability.
"As an ADNOC Group company, we are aligned with ADNOC’s 2030 smart growth strategy by way of embedding the key enablers of efficiency and innovation into every aspect of our business, and integrating new technologies into our operations to make them more efficient, less costly, and safer, ultimately leading to a more profitable upstream business," Al Suwaidi added.
In line with ADNOC’s strategies to optimise the value from every barrel of oil it produces, ADNOC Drilling is transforming into a fully-integrated drilling and well construction provider, which entails the deep and rapid adoption of advanced technologies.
Last month, ADNOC Drilling, last month, signed a strategic partnership agreement with Baker Hughes, a General Electric company, to utilise BHGE’s deep technology expertise, leading-edge equipment, and vast know-how in solving complex drilling challenges through innovative technical solutions.
Al Suwaidi highlighted numerous examples of how ADNOC is advancing the use of cutting-edge technologies and applications, such as machine learning, neural networks, and predictive data, to increase productivity and stimulate growth. Among these are ADNOC's Panorama Digital Command Centre and the Thammama Subsurface Collaboration Centre in which the company is using big data technologies and artificial intelligence to help extract maximum value from its assets and resources and achieve all its business and operational targets, including reducing well drilling time by 30 percent by the end of 2019.
The full-day seminar included several technical presentations that covered various aspects of technology adoption in the drilling industry, presented by a group of highly qualified professionals from GCC and international companies.
The Rig Owners Seminar has been organised annually by ADNOC Drilling since 2005, in cooperation with DNV GL, to share best practices, and discuss topics related to advancing operational efficiency, resource optimisation, and cost-effectiveness in the regional drilling industry.
Established in 1972, ADNOC Drilling is the largest drilling company in the middle East. I and operates an expansive fleet of rigs that includes 60 land rigs, 20 jackup rigs, and 11 island rigs. The company provides drilling rigs and associated services to ADNOC Group companies. Since its establishment, ADNOC Drilling has drilled over 8,000 wells. The total distance drilled is more than 50,000 million feet, which exceeds the earth’s diameter.
