AL AIN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 07th Jan, 2019) Al Ain Zoo has announced that it began developing its data systems and started applying the first phase of its planned electronic archiving system, according to the National Archive standards and achieving digital transformation in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. By instigating the system, it will link all of its sectors to the ArcMate programme, which is expected to be fully finalised in 2019.
The Zoo has archived 4,820 documents so far which have been classified according to the National Archive standards. They include information about the city of Al Ain, and Al Ain Zoo’s history over the 50 years since it was established by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in 1968.
Mohammed Hamdan Al Alawi, Director of the Supporting Services Sector at Al Ain Zoo, said, "The archiving system project which we launched last year has been a successful one. We wanted to sustain this success by continuing the archiving of documents according to the National Archive standards and using the latest electronic systems, through the internal ArcMate programme, which will be fully applied to all departments during 2019.
"
Al Ain Zoo has paid visits to a number of governmental institutions in order to contribute and showcase common experiences, as part of its plan to exchange experiences in the field of electronic archiving, the most recent of which were to Al Ain City Municipality and Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development. These visits are in addition to the Zoo’s ongoing cooperation with the National Archives in the field of archiving, and with the Emirates Environmental Technology factories in the field of proper and legal destruction of documents.
At a localised level, the Document Management Centre established by Al Ain Zoo has organised periodic meetings, awareness campaigns and messages to advise and engage staff in the project, introducing them to the importance of archiving.
