Al Sayegh Heads Delegation To London Initiative 2019 Conference On Jordan

LONDON, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 01st Mar, 2019) Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State, headed the UAE's delegation to the London Initiative 2019 Conference to support investment, growth and jobs for Jordan, which is being held under the theme: 'Jordan: Growth and Opportunity'.

The conference, opened today in London, is attended by King Abdulla II of Jordan, British Prime Minister Teresa May, as well as delegates from 60 countries and international organisations and business sectors.

Al Sayegh thanked the British Government for hosting the conference and underlined the strong fraternal relations between the UAE and Jordan.

He revealed that since 1974, the UAE has extended a total of AED7.

69 billion in grants and loans to Jordan towards development projects spanning mining, water and irrigation, transport, housing, agriculture, energy, education and healthcare sectors.

in June 2018, the UAE joined a GCC initiative in establishing a US$5 billion fund to support development in Jordan. The UAE extended $833 million in support to Jordan as part of a US$2.5 billion package being provided along with Kuwait and Saudi Arabia to help Jordan achieve its economic aspirations.

On the conference's sidelines, Al Sayegh met with Dr. Omar Al Razzaz, Prime Minister of Jordan and discussed with him ways to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries.
