CAIRO, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 11th Feb, 2019) Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the Federal National Council, FNC, highlighted the UAE’s efforts to support and strengthen Arab solidarity.
She also highlighted the country’s overall cooperation and its efforts to ease the suffering of the Arab people.
She made her statement during a speech that was given on her behalf by Jassem Abdullah Al Naqbi, Chairman of the Arab Parliament Group and FNC Member, at a hearing regarding the removal of Sudan from a list of countries that sponsor terrorism, which was held by the Arab Parliament at the Arab League General Secretariat’s headquarters.
Dr. Al Qubaisi said that the plan to remove Sudan from the list, which was prepared by the Arab Parliament and adopted by the Arab League Council during its 29th ordinary session, reflects the spirit of solidarity and cooperation between Arab organisations and represents the interests of the region’s peoples and countries, during a time when the Arab region is facing many strategic regional and international challenges.
She also pointed out that the list of countries that sponsor terrorism is key to the foreign policies of countries that face challenges that undermine international security and stability, most notably terrorism and money laundering.
Such acts require individuals and countries to confront their dangers, as they violate the rights of everyone to security and stability, in light of their growing threat to the sovereignty and unity of countries, she added.
She then highlighted the urgent need to create innovative and effective mechanisms and alternatives to confront this danger while stressing that Sudan’s membership to the Islamic Counter Terrorism Alliance, led by Saudi Arabia, as well as the Arab Coalition Supporting Legitimacy in Yemen, with the aim of supporting security and stability, is evidence of its commitment to an Arab organisation that is confronting terrorism.
Removing Sudan from the list will benefit the country and the United States, US, as well as all regional and international parties that aim to combat terrorism, she further added while noting that it will encourage further relevant security, intellectual, military, cultural, legal and financial efforts.
