Amal Al Qubaisi, Vice Speaker of Indonesian House of Representatives discuss parliamentary relations

ABU DHABI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 20th May, 2019) Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the Federal National Council, FNC, received Dr. Agus Hermanto, Vice Speaker of the House of Representatives of Indonesia, and his delegation, at the FNC’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi.

During the meeting, both sides discussed the means of strengthening their parliamentary cooperation regarding issues of mutual interest.

Dr. Al Qubaisi explained, to Dr. Hermanto, the UAE’s overall development and advancement, due to the efforts of its leadership, headed by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and their brothers, Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates.

Dr. Al Qubaisi highlighted the key role of parliaments in bringing people closer, maintaining international security and stability, ensuring the sovereignty of countries and not interfering in their internal affairs, committing to international charters and treaties, preventing sectarian conflicts, and eliminating support for terrorist militias.

She added that the FNC, which recently launched its parliamentary strategy for 2016 to2021, is keen to build parliamentary partnerships with international institutions and friendly parliaments, as well as host parliamentary events.

Dr. Hermanto stressed the importance of strengthening the parliamentary relations between the UAE and Indonesia.

"I am honoured to meet with the first female speaker of parliament in the Arab region," he said.

He then invited Dr. Al Qubaisi to visit Indonesia and the Indonesian House of Representatives, to discuss the means of strengthening their current relations and review Indonesia’s overall parliamentary experience.
