The Arab Federation for Human Rights studied the report by a group of experts on Yemen and considered it highly politicised and not in compliance with the fundamental standards and principles of international human rights reporting.
GENEVA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 26th Sep, 2018) The Arab Federation for Human Rights studied the report by a group of experts on Yemen and considered it highly politicised and not in compliance with the fundamental standards and principles of international human rights reporting.
The federation added that the report aims to cover up the crimes committed by the Houthi militias and targets the Arab Coalition, instead of assuming its responsibility to end the humanitarian suffering in Yemen.
The federation today issued a report that was sent to the United Nations, UN, High Commissioner for Human Rights and the Human Rights Council, as part of its interest in the state of human rights in Yemen and its participation in an interactive dialogue on the report, which is the tenth item on the council’s agenda.
Issa Al Araby, President of the Federation, said that the federation’s report highlighted a range of discrepancies and contradictions in the experts’ report while noting that it violated the principles of relevant international and UN agencies.
The federation’s report also stressed that the experts exceeded the mandate assigned to them by the council, and pointed out discrepancies in certain events.
A major part of the federation’s report discussed the legal framework of the experts’ report and stressed that it was dangerous and could lead to the deterioration of the conflict in Yemen and the state of its human rights.
At the end of its report, the federation drafted a range of recommendations to end the humanitarian crisis in Yemen and implement relevant Human Rights Council resolutions while highlighting the importance of undertaking the necessary procedures to correct the experts’ report, make it comply with the UN’s reporting standards, and prevent it from extending its mandate, as well as to provide the Yemeni government with technical support and the National Committee with the means of investigating human rights violations in Yemen.
