Crown Prince of Fujairah opens Asia-Pacific Judo Championships Seniors

FUJAIRAH, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 20th Apr, 2019) The Asia-Pacific Judo Championships Seniors opened today in Fujairah under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, who attended the inaugural ceremony in the presence of 286 players from 39 Asian countries, including 11 Arab nations.

"The UAE in general and Fujairah in particular has made significant progress in martial arts, primarily Judo, thanks to the collective efforts made toward promoting the sport," said H.H. Sheikh Mohammed, hailing the support provided by H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, for Judo and for various sports investments in general.

"The Asia-Pacific Judo Championships represent a perfect opportunity for Emirati players to hone their skills and gain international experience by playing with world-class athletes from various parts of the world," he added.

The Crown Prince pf Fujairah lauded the efforts made by the International Judo Federation, Judo Union of Asia and the UAE Wrestling, Judo & Jiu-Jitsu Federation to ensure the success of the Judo Championships. He also recognised the Championships' supporters and partners.

Brigadier Ahmed Hamdan Al Zeyoudi, Head of the Championships' Organising Committee, presented the Fujairah Crown Prince with a commemorative shield in recognition of his support for the event.

A number of Sheikhs, dignitaries and senior officials in the emirate attended the opening ceremony.
