DUBAI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 23rd Jan, 2019) The Dubai Foundation for Women and Children, DFWAC, today received official delegations from Morocco and Thailand, in coordination with the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to learn about the foundation's efforts in helping victims of human trafficking and to combat this crime.

This was part of an official visit by the delegations to the UAE to learn about the foundation’s efforts to help victims of human trafficking.

The two delegations were received by Afra Al Basti, DFWAC Director-General and Member of the Federal National Council, and a number of the foundation’s officials who accompanied the two delegations on a tour to learn about the DFWAC's facilities.

Al Basti welcomed the two delegations, praising the constructive cooperation between the UAE and both Morocco and Thailand in various fields, including combatting human trafficking and joint coordination in providing assistance to victims from both countries.

The Director-General discussed with the delegations the possible ways to enhance cooperation and exchange experiences and to develop the efforts exerted by all parties in fighting human trafficking, especially with regard to agreeing on a unified definition of human trafficking and providing support and care to victims.

She stressed that these visits reflect the position that the UAE has reached in the region and the world in taking on human trafficking and the achievements in this issue, thanks to the interest and directions of the leadership, which was praised by many countries and concerned international organisations.

"The crime of trafficking in human beings is an international crime committed by organised gangs in more than one country. Therefore, this crime can only be combatted and eradicated through coordination and cooperation among the countries of the world, especially in countries with high rates of trafficking," Al Basti explained.

The Moroccan delegation praised the efforts of the UAE and the Dubai Foundation for the care of women and children especially in providing the necessary protection and support to victims of human trafficking. The Thai delegation also praised the efforts of the UAE and the Foundation and its facilities, as well as the coordination and continuous cooperation with the Thai diplomatic mission regarding the Thai community visiting or residing in the UAE.
