DUBAI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 24th Mar, 2019) As part of his regular inspection tours to different customs centres and departments, Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs visited Al Maktoum International Airport, to confirm the level of services for the Expo 2020 Dubai and beyond.
Once completed, Al Maktoum International Airport will be the world’s largest global gateway with capacity for more than 160 million passengers per year. It will also serve as a multi-modal logistics hub for 12 million tonnes of freight.
In 2019, over 3,000 flights carrying 440,000 passengers came through the airport, and some 438,000 suitcases were checked.
The Dubai Customs Director met with airport staff, lauding their performance and the hospitability in dealing with passengers. "EXPO 2020 is approaching, and we need to keep this momentum of good work and hospitable treatment of passengers," he said.
Musabih highlighted the important role Dubai Custom's passenger operations department plays to maintain security and assist passengers in the best possible way towards Expo 2020 and beyond.
Accompanied by Ebrahim Al Kamali, Director of Passenger Operations at Dubai Customs, Musabih applauded the level of professionalism and expertise the officers at the airport show. He pointed out that Dubai has invested billions to get the infrastructure of its ports and airports to a very advanced world class level.
"We keep innovating to help passengers visiting Dubai have a pleasant experience and to save them time and effort. For example, we have rolled out the 'iDeclare' application which enables passengers to Dubai declare their belongings, if needed, in only five minutes, rather than 45 minutes," Musabih said.
A Federal Tax Authority office also opened its doors at the airport to help passengers retrieve their value added tax, VAT, conveniently.
