Dubai International Pro Jiu-Jitsu Championship To Kick Off Friday

ABU DHABI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 12th Dec, 2018) The UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, UAEJJF, has completed its final preparations to kick off the 6th edition of the Dubai International Pro Jiu-Jitsu Championship, which will be held at Nad Al Sheba sports Complex on 14th-15th December.
The championship will see Jiu-Jitsu professionals, technical teams, and audiences from all over the world take part and attend. The results will count towards the 2018-19 end of season total. The championship also includes several professional levels for over 16 athletes, including youth, adult and master categories.
Dubai International Pro Jiu-Jitsu Championship is listed in six international categories based on the professional athletes participating and scoring mechanisms.
Securing a gold medal will grant the winning athlete 60 points, which is added to their overall season score. A silver medal winner gains 40 points, whilst a bronze medal winner will secure 30 points. The points reduce the further down the rankings an athlete finishes. So a fourth positioned athlete will be granted 20 points, and 5th-8th ranked athletes will be granted 10 points each. Athletes in ranks 9th-16th will be granted 5 points, whilst athletes ranked 17th-32nd will be granted 3 points. Unranked athletes will be granted 1 point.
For his part, national team player Saeed Al Hajemdo said, "I am participating to win a gold medal in my first international championship of my career, which started a year ago through local championships.
"
He also pointed out that whilst he will be participating in the Blue Belt category at 94 Kg, this fight will feature as part of his efforts to secure a world ranking. This championship will be the culmination of his successful journey over the past 12 months, during which he won 2 gold medals.
Saeed pointed that this championship is an opportunity for all participating fighters to test their abilities and learn new techniques by interacting with international professionals. He also stressed that it is a big responsibility and an honor to represent the UAE and compete under the name of the national team.
The schedule for the first day will include the men’s No GI competitions, while female players will compete in the GI category on the second day. The competitions will spread over five belts: White, Blue, Purple, Brown, and Black, with each belt subdivided into seven weight categories.
The UAEJJF Technical Committee pointed out that the Dubai International Pro Jiu-Jitsu Championship will use two separate competition formats: while black belts will be able to avail the Double Elimination system - whereby one-match losers will get the chance to compete for the bronze medal; white, blue, purple, and brown belts will be eliminated after their first loss.
