DUBAI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 13th Jun, 2018) The Dubai Police General HQ, represented by the General Department of Excellence and Pioneering, recently organised a mass iftar at the Dubai Officers’ Club in Al Garhoud with the participation of new Muslims under the slogan, "Coexistence, Unity and Tolerance."
In his opening speech, Major-General Dr. Abdul Quddos Abdul Razzaq Al Obaidly, Assistant Commander of Excellence and Pioneering at Dubai Police, said the UAE was and still is an oasis of tolerance, peaceful coexistence and unity. These principles formed the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who established this country on the values of love, moderation, tolerance and coexistence.
"President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has taken a firm approach to the process of tolerance and peaceful coexistence and bridging different cultures and civilisations, to prevent abuse of any religion, to protect freedoms and to preserve sanctities.
This approach is complemented by the promulgation of laws and legislation guaranteeing freedom of belief and religious tolerance and the law against discrimination and hatred," Maj-Gen Al Obaidly added.
He further said that tolerance is directly linked to the achievement of safety and security. People's sense of security enhances their culture of tolerance, indicating that tolerance is linked to peaceful coexistence among people, and raising children to respect each other will lead to non-clash with others, creating a culture of tolerance that contributes to the cohesion of the society, he explained.
