Emirati-Saudi ties reinforce cultural movement: Intellectuals and writers told WAM

In an exclusive statement to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, intellectuals, writers, and poets stressed that the UAE and Saudi Arabia have deep-rooted brotherly relations, whose foundations were established by the leaderships of the two countries and based on mutual understanding and coordination on various political, economic and social levels

RIYADH, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 21st Mar, 2019) In an exclusive statement to the Emirates news Agency, WAM, intellectuals, writers, and poets stressed that the UAE and Saudi Arabia have deep-rooted brotherly relations, whose foundations were established by the leaderships of the two countries and based on mutual understanding and coordination on various political, economic and social levels.

This came during their visit to the Riyadh International Book Fair 2019, yesterday, as part of a delegation led by Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development.

They added that these exceptional ties have taken many important dimensions, especially the cultural one, which was reflected in the selection of the UAE as the guest of honor at the Riyadh International Book Fair last year, and its participation with Saudi Arabia in such an important cultural event.

The writer Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Musallam, President of Sharjah institute for Heritage, said that book fairs are platforms for cultural interaction between the UAE and Saudi Arabia, to showcase their cultural achievements and their art, literature, and science, as well as for dialogue between communities and cultures.

For her part, the poet Sheikha Al-Mutairi, Member of the board of Directors of the Emirates Writers Union, said that the UAE has always promoted reading, by setting aside the month of March for this purpose, while adding that the visit has introduced them to Saudi Arabia’s reading community.

In turn, Najat Al Dhaheri, Member of the Emirates Writers Union, said that the UAE’s participation in the fair will enable both countries to reinforce their literary cooperation and could lead to the launch of a joint book fair.

Abdullah bin Hassan Al Kanani, Director of the Riyadh International Book Fair and General Supervisor of the libraries at the Saudi Ministry of Culture and Information, stated that the UAE’s participation reflects the strong and historic overall ties between the two countries, including in the area of culture.
