ERC inaugurates health campaign for school students on Yemen’s Red Sea Coast

The Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, has inaugurated a health campaign for school students in remote areas of Yemen’s Red Sea Coast, through its mobile medical clinic.

RED SEA COAST, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 11th Dec, 2018) The Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, has inaugurated a health campaign for school students in remote areas of Yemen’s Red Sea Coast, through its mobile medical clinic.

The campaign is part of the ERC’s efforts to maintain the health of students and offer therapeutic services, which will help improve their general health and eradicate contagious diseases, especially cholera.

The campaign began at the "Martyr Qamhad School" in Al Khawkhah District, with the attendance of Dr. Al Hassan Ali Taher, Governor of Hodeidah, and several Yemeni officials, who praised the ERC’s humanitarian initiative.

Ali Taher said that inaugurating the campaign in remote areas of the Red Sea Coast that lack health centres will improve their health conditions while highlighting the ERC’s efforts to support the campaign through its mobile medical clinic, which will provide medical supplies and medicines that will guarantee the campaign’s success and eradicate contagious diseases.

Ali Taher added that the services offered by the clinic to school students are part of the free medical services offered by the UAE in the liberated cities and districts of the Red Sea Coast, as well as its efforts to restore the normal living conditions in the areas, which were liberated from the Iranian-backed Houthi militias.

The clinic will serve those suffering from chronic diseases, especially children, women and the elderly, to ease their suffering caused by their current humanitarian conditions. The number of beneficiaries from the clinic’s therapeutic services has reached over 5,400 since its launch in September.

The students’ parents who attended the launch of the campaign stressed that the ERC’s projects and initiatives will help save the lives of the residents of the liberated areas of the Red Sea Coast, especially those in remote areas, as well as limit the spread of contagious diseases in classes. They also thanked the UAE for its leading humanitarian and relief efforts in Yemen, which have answered the needs of Yemeni families.
