Khalifa Bin Zayed Issues Law Establishing Abu Dhabi Agriculture And Food Safety Authority

ABU DHABI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 24th Mar, 2019) President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in his capacity as the Ruler of Abu Dhabi, has issued a law establishing the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority.
Under the law, the Authority, which will be affiliated to the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, shall have an independent legal personality and full legal capacity.
The newly established entity shall replace Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority and the Farmers Services Centre in Abu Dhabi as well as all their affiliates, including the Food Security Centre and its likes, with the power and responsibility for all their assets, rights, obligations, and employees to be vested in the newly established entity.
The Law stipulates that the new entity shall act as the local authority in charge of agriculture, food safety, food security and biosecurity portfolios in the emirate. The new entity shall seek to develop a sustainably developing sector in the fields of agriculture, food security, and preservation of fauna and flora in a way that upholds biosecurity and achieves food security.
In the meantime, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, has issued a resolution forming the board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority under the chairmanship of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, and the membership of the following: 1-Mariam Hareb Almheiri, Minister of State for Food Security 2-Dr Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili- Chairman, Department of Community Development 3-Khalifa Mohamed Hamad Faris Al Mazrouei- Under-Secretary of Department of Transport 4-Mubarak Obeid Al Dhaheri- Under-Secretary of Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities 5-Rashid Abdul Karim Al Baloushi, Acting Under-Secretary of Department of Economic Development 6- Dr Shaikha Al Dhaheri- Acting Secretary - General of Environment Agency- Abu Dhabi
