DUBAI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 12th Sep, 2018) Mohammed bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU) and Al Jalila Children’s Speciality Hospital (Al Jalila Children’s) have signed an affiliation agreement, in the presence of Dr. Abdulla Al Khayat, Al Jalila Children’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Amer Sharif, MBRU’s Vice Chancellor, Dr. Mohamed Al Awadhi, Al Jalila Children’s Chief Operating Officer, and Professor Alawi Alsheikh-Ali, Dean of the College of Medicine.
As per the agreement, Al Jalila Children’s will serve as a teaching hospital for MBRU’s medical students. Both parties have agreed that they will cooperate and coordinate efforts between them to provide the optimum environment for conducting an educational experience for the medical students. As part of the agreement, a joint clinical academic committee (CAC) will be formed to oversee the implementation of the clinical training. This agreement is in line with Dubai Healthcare City Authority’s vision of establishing an integrated academic health system.
Speaking on the occasion, Professor Alawi Alsheikh-Ali said, "Partnering with a leading institution like Al Jalila Children’s is a key step towards realising MBRU’s goals of innovative healthcare education and research through an integrated academic health system.
We look forward to working with our colleagues in Al Jalila Children’s to provide transformative learning experiences for our students as well as opportunities for collaborative research that will enhance the quality of care in our region."
"Along with the highest standards of Medical Care and Research, Education is a main pillar that forms the identity of Al Jalila Children’s", said Dr. Al Awadhi, "we are very happy to be affiliated with MBRU to provide young aspiring doctors the opportunity to further expand their knowledge and develop their clinical skills. We also hope that we can instil in them our passion for excellence in patient care and innovation".
As MBRU highly values connectivity, earlier this year Al Jalila Children’s, in academic partnership with MBRU, launched the Al Jalila Children’s Pediatric Residency Programme, making it the first Pediatric Residency Programme in the UAE accredited by the Saudi board. This helps strengthen the journey of medical students by providing them with programmes starting from undergraduate to specialisation and continuing education. This will also enhance students’ overall learning experience and ensure the development of a qualified cadre of physicians and healthcare leaders to serve the UAE.
