Ministerial Development Council reviews federal laws

The Ministerial Development Council held its meeting today to discuss a number of issues related to government affairs, under the chairmanship H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs

ABU DHABI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 17th Apr, 2019) The Ministerial Development Council held its meeting today to discuss a number of issues related to government affairs, under the chairmanship H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.

During discussions on issuing a Federal law on cooperative societies, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan asserted the role of cooperative societies in the community and economic development of the UAE. The law will aim to organise and develop national policies to enhance the role of cooperative societies in community development.

The Council also discussed the proposed maritime transport policy in the UAE, which defines the legislative, regulatory, supervisory, and operational roles of the maritime transport and port activities in the UAE. The proposed law aims at enhancing maritime safety standards, securing the safety of ports and logistics facilities, and contribute to the growth of the national economy.

It also reviewed a draft of a federal law to eliminate any violations of the educational examination system. The law aims at defining the procedures for organizing and holding examinations and reducing attempts of cheating, tampering, and breaching of exam systems in light of the widespread spread of technology.

The law would ensure the alignment of the educational system the UAE with the best international standards and quality requirements.

A proposal to issue a federal law concerning the collection of donations was also reviewed during the Council’s meeting. The proposed law aims at coordinating efforts between the federal and local authorities and establish common provisions governing the collection of donations.

A discussion took place to amend provisions of the federal law concerning the federal judiciary. The law aims to strengthen the judicial system and improve its compliance with national legislations of the latest international systems in this field.

The Council also reviewed a number of government reports, including the annual report of the Government Financial Policy Coordination Council for 2018. It also reviewed the technical study on the atmospheric water generators, and the report on the participation in the eighth meeting of the Emirates-Japan Friendship Committee for the development of women's careers, among other topics and proposals on the agenda.
