ABU DHABI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 19th Sep, 2018) The "Parents’ Conference," organised by the Ministry of Education, began today, under the theme, "Partners in our Journey."
The conference, which is being held for the first time at the Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi, will witness the participation of leading experts, educators, parents, academic leaders and specialists, to discuss key academic topics and strengthen the role of parents in advancing the UAE’s education system.
The launch was attended by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister for Tolerance, Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, and Jameela Al Muheiri, Minister of State for Public Education.
The conference will focus on highlighting the role of parents in supporting the education process, the needs of Emirati schools, and the combined efforts to achieve the country’s vision of creating future generations who are globally competitive.
The conference also aims to highlight the role of parents in achieving the academic indicators of the National Agenda, as well as to raise awareness about the importance of their support for the education development plans of Emirati schools, and their contributions to building a stable family and social system.
Sheikh Nahyan said that the UAE’s education system aims, with determination and resolve, to prepare the country’s future generations for productive and rich lives, by making them capable, with a sound mind and body, and equipped with enthusiasm and initiative. It is also a system that primarily aims to ensure that future generations are equipped with morals, are capable of preserving the community’s heritage and traditions, are committed to building on the UAE’s successes and promoting the values of hard work, development, tolerance and peace, he added.
"We all have one aim and one vision, a promising academic vision, to prove to you that this conference is for you, and to achieve your visions, aspirations and goals. Because you are key partners to our academic journey," Al Hammadi said.
He added that there are many ongoing challenges, and developing the education system is necessary for keeping pace with these challenges, in line with the vision of the wise leadership.
"The UAE is now competitive, which is well known, and we aim to create future generations who possess the latest skills and can achieve leading results for Emirati schools. We want our students to compete with their peers from around the world and take the lead and be exceptional. In the age of globalisation, artificial intelligence, innovation, the internet and the knowledge-based economy, there is no space for complacency or regression. We must hedge our bets on our youth and students to actively engage in the future with their exceptional abilities, skills. Science and knowledge will remain the key factors to continuing our country’s development and advancement and maintaining its international pioneering," he stated.
He explained that in line with the progress of the education sector, it is necessary to achieve integration and create a joint vision, as there is no way for the education process to succeed in the absence of parents.
