Musanada commences construction of MBZ & Jebel Hafeet schools

Abu Dhabi General Services Company 'Musanada' has commenced construction of two school projects - the Mohamed bin Zayed School in Abu Dhabi and the Jebel Hafeet School in Al Ain - at the value of AED288 million covering a total area of 117,000 square metres. The two schools will accommodate 4,040 male and female students in 147 classrooms.

ABU DHABI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 17th Oct, 2018) Abu Dhabi General Services Company 'Musanada' has commenced construction of two school projects - the Mohamed bin Zayed School in Abu Dhabi and the Jebel Hafeet School in Al Ain - at the value of AED288 million covering a total area of 117,000 square metres. The two schools will accommodate 4,040 male and female students in 147 classrooms.

"The execution of these two projects forms part of Musanada’s efforts to realise the vision of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and implement the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, towards delivering projects that provide facilities aligned to the Emirate’s advanced educational level and providing a stimulating educational environment to both students and teachers," said Saleh Al Ali, Musanada’s education Portfolio Director.

Speaking in more details, Al Ali said that the AED170-million C2 and C3 Mohamed bin Zayed School for boys forms part of Abu Dhabi Future Schools Programme (ADFSP), Phase 7, Package 1, and that Musanada plans to hand over the school to Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) in December 2019.

"The school will be constructed on an overall area of more than 25,900 square metres within the total area amounting to 78,912 square metres allocated to the project," said Al Ali. "Set to be completed within 16 months as per the agreed delivery schedule, the Mohamed bin Zayed School will comprise 3 floors (a ground floor plus two storeys), and will accommodate 2,550 students (1,500 C2 students and 1,050 C3 students), and will include 85 classrooms (50 for C2 and 35 for C3). The school will also include a library, science, arts and computer labs, a multipurpose hall, administration offices, an equipped sports hall, a cafeteria, a dining hall, a prayer room for students and the administration, external playgrounds, parking spaces and external landscaping," he explained.

As for the Jebel Hafeet School, Al Ali said that this school also forms part of ADFSP, Phase 7, Package 2. The AED118-million C1 and KG school will be constructed on a plot at the northern part of Jebel Hafeet area in Al Ain city on an overall area of 38,422 square metres fully allocated to the project, including 12,505 square metres dedicated for the buildings.

"The school will comprise 2 floors (a ground floor plus one floor), and will accommodate 1,490 male and female students (1,250 C1 students and 240 KG students), and will include 62 classrooms, including 12 for KG. The school will also include 2 classrooms for arts and music, a library, administration offices, a multipurpose hall, a cafeteria, a dining hall, external playgrounds, parking spaces and external landscaping.

The total built-up area of the facility (ground floor + first floor) will be 17,596 square metres," Al Ali elaborated.

He further added that both projects will deploy latest electromechanical systems, including air conditioning and firefighting systems, in line with ADEK’s Design Manual and requirements, and in accordance with the regulations and requirements of the concerned authorities. The contractor’s scope of work covers the school construction and supply of the FFE items.

Al Ali stressed the importance of compliance with international standards as well as Musanada’s project management system which embeds quality control standards and adheres to implementation of occupational safety and health standards without compromising the environment, in accordance with a pre-agreed schedule as part of Musanada’s contribution to achieve the objectives of Abu Dhabi Plan.

He further explained that construction of these projects, falling within the context of ADFSP, conforms with best practices, be it in the design of classrooms, multipurpose halls, or the provision of an appropriate and attractive educational environment to cater for the needs of future generations.

"In constructing these two schools, Musanada is keen on observing environmental sustainability requirements and preserving multiple energy sources, as the projects follow the 2-pearl sustainability rating stipulated by the Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities. This rating is meant for buildings that enhance efficiency of energy use, besides ensuring that all the materials and equipment used should be compliant with the latest sustainability specifications," Al Ali added.

Also speaking on the projects, Eiman Al Marzouqi, Infrastructure and Facilities Director at the Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), said that the new schools form part of the direction to construct modern schools that cater for all modern educational needs and the increase of student numbers, particularly in newly constructed areas, providing an integrated school model that is attractive to students and the local community.

She added that the school buildings take account of all construction and environmental sustainability international standards, helping to promote a culture of environmental awareness and conservation of consumption among students. The school facilities allow students to enjoy their school and after school hours, encouraging their creative thinking and innovation.
