ABU DHABI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 31st Jan, 2019) Victor Haruta, the Ambassador of Moldova to UAE, today praised next week’s visit by Pope Francis’ visit to the UAE as "a sincere attempt to enhance inter-human connections, remove borders, and promote trans-religious contacts and cultural exchange."

Speaking to the Emirates news Agency (WAM), the ambassador said, "In the era of globalisation, interaction and integration among the people of different faiths has a colossal effect on culture, political systems, economic development and prosperity, and on human physical well-being in societies around the world."

Underlining the significance of the first-ever visit by a Catholic pontiff to the Arabian Peninsula, Haruta said, the visit reflects the Vatican’s desire to send a message that all people are equal "regardless of their religious beliefs.

It is important to avoid feeling like strangers; there are a lot of similarities among different religions."

Haruta went on to comment on the determination of the UAE leadership to promote tolerance and peaceful-coexistence.

"Inviting the Pope to visit Abu Dhabi proves the wise vision of the leadership of the United Arab Emirates to promote tolerance and build peace among the nations of the world, " he said. "I strongly believe that this visit is a joint effort to strengthen interfaith dialogue and human fraternity."

There are over 2000 Moldovans living in the UAE. The Eastern European country opened its embassy in Abu Dhabi in May 2018, the 41st diplomatic mission of Moldova abroad.
