Rashid Al Nuaimi, Irish Minister of Commerce discuss cooperation

AJMAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 21st Apr, 2019) Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Department of Municipality and Planning in Ajman, and Pat Breen, Irish Minister of State for Trade, Employment, Business, EU Digital Single Market and Data Protection, discussed ways of advancing cooperation between Ajman and Ireland in the areas of health, innovation, technology and business.

Both sides also discussed means to bolster ties in higher education, as well as in developing joint academic programmes in the areas of health, science, technology, artificial intelligence, AI, and robotics.

Sheikh Rashid explained the importance of education to the economy and achieving economic diversification, while stressing that it is a key part of Ajman Vision 2021, and will help complete the UAE Soft Power Strategy, the UAE AI Strategy and the UAE Centennial 2071.

He also noted the importance of benefitting from Ireland’s experience in adopting innovative business practices, especially in the education and health sectors.

Breen highlighted the close economic relations between the two sides, as well as their keenness to promote future cooperation between companies from their countries, especially in the services, information technology, scientific research, industry and education sectors.

Importance of strengthening the overall economic cooperation between the UAE and Ireland, especially in areas of mutual interest, was also discussed.

The relations between the two countries are witnessing considerable growth, and the value of their non-oil foreign trade in 2017, including through free zones, totalled US$760 million, up from $745 million in 2016.
