RIYADH, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 08th Apr, 2019) The Saudi Royal Air Defence Systems detected an unidentified object headed towards civilian targets in the Asir region on Sunday, the Arab Coalition Official Spokesman revealed.
The Saudi Press Agency, SPA, reported Colonel Turki S. Al Malki, Official Spokesman of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen, as saying that 20:50 local time on Sunday, "the Saudi Royal Air Defence Systems detected an unidentified object headed towards civilian properties in Asir region and dealt with the target according to rules of engagement and destruction."
Al Malki said that no injuries or damages were reported as a result of the interception of the Houthi drone.
The Official Spokesman said that the Iran-backed terrorist Houthi militias continue to target civilians and civilian infrastructure via the use of UAV's and remote-controlled explosives, among other techniques. These attacks, Al Malki noted, predominantly emanate from the Hodeidah Governorate, especially during the period in which the Arab Coalition is adhering to the ceasefire as stipulated in the Stockholm Agreement.
These hostile and terrorist acts "seek to provoke Coalition forces into conducting military operations in Hodeidah," he added.
Al Malki reaffirmed the Arab Coalition's commitment to supporting the political efforts spearheaded by the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen, and the chair of the Redeployment Coordination Committee to successfully implement the Stockholm Agreement.
He said that the Arab Coalition cautions the Iran-backed terrorist Houthi militia in the strongest terms from targeting civilians and civilian objects and that their use of such terrorist tactics will be categorically and decisively deterred by taking all necessary measures following customary international humanitarian law.
