As the one-year countdown begins to the second edition of the Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit (GMIS) – the pioneering cross-industry forum that aims to unify the world in shaping the future of manufacturing – an all new online portal has been officially launched by Denis Manturov, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
YEKATERINGBURG, Russia, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 16th Jul, 2018) As the one-year countdown begins to the second edition of the Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit (GMIS) – the pioneering cross-industry forum that aims to unify the world in shaping the future of manufacturing – an all new online portal has been officially launched by Denis Manturov, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
The unveiling of the #GMIS2019 portal took place at INNOPROM 2018, Russia's Industrial Trade Fair, launching a one-year countdown to #GMIS2019. Announced by the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, during the plenary session at the recent St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), the Summit will coincide with the 10th staging of INNOPROM and will be held in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg in July 2019.
The Summit – which will continue to build on the success and momentum generated by its inaugural event held in Abu Dhabi last year - will promote the development of a roadmap for the future of manufacturing across the world, with economic and social development at its core. A global audience of government and business leaders, as well as representatives of nongovernmental organisations, academics and biologists, will engage in debates, plenary sessions and workshops on ‘nature-inspired technologies’, also known as biomimetic design and biomimicry, to highlight innovative strategies and designs that advance sustainable industrial development, and collaborate on global initiatives that are designed to empower and inspire the next generation of manufacturing entrepreneurs, innovators and pioneers.
"GMIS 2019 represents a unique platform which brings together the international community to discuss, define, and develop a roadmap which will set manufacturing on the most transformative path into the future. The excitement begins now and, in exactly one year’s time, we can anticipate to learn from the shapers and movers of the manufacturing community on where to invest and what to invest in, and how to balance between sustainable industrial practices and an acceptable rate of return on investment," said Manturov.
Badr Al-Olama, Head of the GMIS Organising Committee, said: "We are honoured and delighted to be hosting #GMIS2019 in one of the world’s most advanced and innovative manufacturing heartlands. The new portal showcases Russia’s longstanding industrial heritage, and its pivotal role in influencing and shaping the world of manufacturing.
"With the ongoing support of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, and the participation of Russia’s private sector, we firmly believe that #GMIS2019 will embark on a new path that is at the crossroads of technology and biology to redefine the social and economic wellbeing of our world."
A joint initiative by the United Arab Emirates and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit bridges the gap between manufacturers, governments and NGOs, technologists, and investors to address the fourth industrial revolution’s transformative impact on manufacturing, and the global economy it serves. The inaugural Summit was held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and brought together over 3,000 government, business, and civil society leaders from over 40 countries to identify key trends and opportunities that advance manufacturing and industrial development globally. It also aims to steer the future of science, catalyse technological change, promote partnerships, and inspire young people around the world to participate in the process of building stronger and more sustainable societies, communities, businesses, and economies.
