Sharjah Chamber Shows Increase In Members During Q1 2019

Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, SCCI, has recorded a growth of 16 percent in new members during the first quarter of 2019 compared to the first quarter of 2018
SHARJAH, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 17th Apr, 2019) Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, SCCI, has recorded a growth of 16 percent in new members during the first quarter of 2019 compared to the first quarter of 2018.
The chamber said it had 1,464 new members, while those who have renewed their membership has risen to 15,338, a growth rate of six percent as compared to the same time last year.
The overall number of the new and renewed members of the chamber totalled 16,802 during the first quarter of 2019, a growth rate of eight percent compared to the first quarter of 2018.
The number of certificates of origin during the first quarter of this year has reached 23,298 with a growth rate of one percent as compared to the first quarter of 2018. This number reflects the incremental growth of Sharjah's trade sector alongside the flexibility of merchants in expanding and diversifying their external trade.
"Attracting new members despite the global challenges and renewing membership with a growth rate of six percent is clearly reflecting the SCCI’s commitment to enhancing its services and initiatives in pursuance of the wise vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to consolidate Sharjah’s economic position in all international forums and to strengthen its march towards knowledge and innovation economy," said Mohamed Ahmed Amin, Acting Director-General of the SCCI.
Abdulaziz Shattaf, Assistant Director-General for Members Services at the SCCI, shed light on the success of the chamber in increasing in its new and renewed memberships as a result of its investment in modern technology.
