Sharjah Economic Council issues resolution to organise contracting business

SHARJAH, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 23rd Apr, 2019) H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council, SEC, chaired the council's meeting at the Ruler’s Office in Sharjah on Tuesday morning.

During the meeting, the Council issued Resolution No. (9) of 2019 to organise contracting business activities in the Emirate of Sharjah. The new Resolution seeks to establish a permanent committee in the Emirate, called the "Committee for the Evaluation and Classification of Contractors and Subcontractors in the Emirate of Sharjah".

The committee is to be headed by the Director General of the Municipality of Sharjah City and the membership of the Directors of the Municipalities of the Emirate and the Director of the Technical Authority in the Municipality of Sharjah City, as well as other bodies that the Council considers to be attached to the Committee.

Following the ratification of the minutes of the previous session, the Council reviewed the recommendations of the Sharjah Consultative Council, SCC, regarding the policy of the Sharjah Prevention and Safety Authority, SPSA.

The Council’s members also discussed the report of the Sharjah Economic Development Department concerning the economic situation in the central region of the emirate of Sharjah.

Sultan Abdullah bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, Chairman of Sharjah Economic Development Department, said that the Department, in cooperation with authorities, is studying the economic situation and the extent of the economic growth and challenges facing the economic market.

Al Suwaidi also addressed a number of statistical indicators on economic affairs in the Central Region, along with the opportunities and challenges facing investors and entrepreneurs, while highlighting a number of recommendations that the Council should consider to reinforce implementation mechanisms with the concerned authorities.

Additionally, the Council discussed a draft resolution on the organisation of outdoor advertising in the Emirate of Sharjah, in which the members of the Council expressed their observations on the items and articles of the resolution.

The Council was also briefed on a number of decrees issued by Sharjah Ruler.
