Sheikha Fatima global campaign begins volunteer activities in Sidon, Lebanon

BEIRUT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 12th Mar, 2019) The Sheikha Fatima Global Humanitarian Campaign began its volunteering activities in Sidon, Lebanon, under the theme, 'Following in the Footsteps of Zayed', and as part of a programme, titled, 'We Are All Sheikha Fatima', with the participation of an Emirati-Saudi-Lebanese volunteer medical team.

The campaign aims to reinforce the culture of volunteering, community giving and humanitarian tolerance, and provide the best diagnostic, treatment and preventive services to women and children, under the supervision of the UAE Embassy in Lebanon.

Noura Al Suwaidi, Director of the General Women's Union, GWU, said that the campaign is being implemented due to the directives of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, to adopt local and global initiatives that aim to support the health of women and children, in line with the directives of the wise leadership to make 2019 the Year of Tolerance.

Reem Othman, Ambassador of Humanitarian Work and Executive Director of the Saudi- German Group of Hospitals in the UAE, stated that the campaign in Sidon is continuing the international humanitarian initiatives of Sheikha Fatima, and will provide realistic solutions to health crises, through a series of mobile clinics and field hospitals.

She added that the campaign in Lebanon will include 12 medical convoys, reflecting the keenness of the UAE’s wise leadership to support joint medical and health programmes between the two countries.

She also pointed out that the campaign’s volunteer medical teams in Sidon succeeded in proactively diagnosing hundreds of cases, and provided free treatment to patients with heart, chest and chronic diseases.

Local patients, both women and children, praised the initiative of Sheikha Fatima, which treated them against diseases, supervised by Emirati and Lebanese doctors.
