39th GCC Summit Kicks Off In Riyadh With Participation Of UAE

RIYADH, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 09th Dec, 2018) The 39th session of the GCC Summit kicked off today in Riyadh under the chairmanship of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud with the participation of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, who headed the UAE delegation to the summit.

This year's summit holds much significance given the exceptional circumstances being witnessed in the region and the world.

In his keynote speech, King Salman said that hosting of this edition of the GCC summit comes in response to the desire of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos of Oman, as the bloc is committed to strengthening the security, stability, development, prosperity and well-being of its citizens.

He also stressed that everyone is keen on preserving the Council and wants to enhance its present and future role which, "requires us all to harness our energies to serve the people of the Council and to safeguard security and stability of our countries and the region."
