ABU DHABI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 15th Nov, 2018) Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the Federal National Council, FNC, stated that tolerance was and will remain a key principle established by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the Founding Fathers of the nation.
In her statements marking the annual International Day for Tolerance observed on 16th November, Al Qubaisi said tolerance has become the main part of the directives of UAE’s leadership and their policies.
"While we are celebrating the Year of Zayed, we must draw inspiration from Sheikh Zayed’s principles of tolerance and coexistence as leaders, government and people, as well as from the value system he ingrained within us," Al Qubaisi added.
She stressed that the day reflects the UAE’s civilised image, its commitment to tolerance, its harmony, and the goodness of its policies since its establishment, while pointing out that the Emirati community is known for its authentic legacy of tolerance, multiculturalism, openness and coexistence.
"A legacy that was established by Sheikh Zayed and the Founding Fathers, and is being followed by the country’s wise leadership, until the UAE has become, in light of their directives, a model of tolerance and coexistence that enjoys the respect and appreciation of the people of the entire world, through its international initiatives to serve humanity."
She added that the UAE represents tolerance, coexistence and social cohesion, which it believes in, and it is now reaping the rewards of this policy.
She highlighted the presence of 40 churches and Hindu temples and over 200 nationalities of various religions, languages, cultures and customs, who all reside in the UAE in total harmony and practice their work and religious rituals freely and without discrimination based on religion, colour, sex or identity.
