UAE, Nigeria fostering cooperation ties

The incentives and the business-friendly environment provided by the UAE government to foreign investors were the crux of a series of meetings Fahad Obaid Mohammad Al Tifaq, UAE Ambassador to Nigeria, had with a number of Nigerian officials and businessmen recently in Lagos.

ABUJA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 20th Nov, 2018) The incentives and the business-friendly environment provided by the UAE government to foreign investors were the crux of a series of meetings Fahad Obaid Mohammad Al Tifaq, UAE Ambassador to Nigeria, had with a number of Nigerian officials and businessmen recently in Lagos.

The ambassador held the meetings during his tour of a number of Nigerian institutions and businesses where he exchanged views with Nigerian officials on the ways of promoting trade and investment relations between the two countries.

As part of these meetings, the ambassador had expanded talks with the Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, Olayinka Oladunjoye, and Commissioner for Transportation, Ladi Lawanson, with whom issues of common interest in areas of trade, investment, air and maritime transport and infrastructure were thrashed out.

The ambassador also held a seminar in the presence of Yalode Alaba Lawson, the President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, and representatives of more than 30 Nigerian businesses. The seminar addressed means of accelerating FDI inflows between the two countries and the efficient role played by the private sector in this regard.

He also met with Ahmed Mansur, President of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, and the two exchanged views on industrial cooperation between the two countries,with the Nigerian official lauding the prestigious international stature boasted by the UAE, a country which, he said, has become a role model for economic diversification.

The ambassador also visited the premises of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce where he discussed with Nigerian officials means of accelerating the exchange of visits to further trade and investment collaboration. He attended the Future Energy Nigeria Conference and Expo where he toured the pavilion of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The ambassador also met with a number of Nigerian entrepreneurs and businessmen and visited the Terra Kulture Arts and Studios where he was briefed on the key cultural activities launched by the center and discussed with its officials the importance of culture in international relations.

Bolanle Austen-Peters, the centre founder, hailed the ambassador's visit and commended the cultural role played by the UAE through its various centres.
