Tadweer Supports 2018 ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon

The Abu Dhabi Waste Management Center, Tadweer, today announced its support for the inaugural international edition of the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon.
ABU DHABI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 25th Sep, 2018) The Abu Dhabi Waste Management Center, Tadweer, today announced its support for the inaugural international edition of the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon.
Tadweer’s participation is in line with its role as a leading Abu Dhabi government entity and in keeping with its strategy of contributing to the overall welfare of the community through minimising waste production and stepping up awareness of sustainable waste management practices in the emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Organised by Abu Dhabi Sports Council, ADSC, and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, ADNOC, the marathon is set to run on 7th December, 2018, in Abu Dhabi city.
As a key sponsor of the marathon, Tadweer will deploy several supervisors, cleaners and cleaning equipment at the marathon venue. It will also educate marathon participants and the general public about the importance of minimising waste through waste segregation at source and recycling. In addition, Tadweer will highlight its efforts to safeguard the environment and protect public health through a range of services in the integrated waste management and pest control domains.
Tadweer will ensure that all marathon participants adhere to sustainability standards and are aware of the basic principles of waste management. Furthermore, the centre will urge participants, visitors and spectators to demonstrate positive environmental behaviour in the interest of preserving the cleanliness and aesthetic appeal of Abu Dhabi.
Dr Salem Al Kaabi, Acting General Manager of Tadweer, said, "As a leading Abu Dhabi government entity, Tadweer is committed to supporting significant local events such as the Abu Dhabi Marathon.
The centre is keen to mark its presence at all such events that enable it to reach out to the members of the community. In stepping up efforts to enhance environmental awareness, Tadweer seeks to promote a culture of environmental responsibility and sustainability in Abu Dhabi."
Al Kaabi added, "Supporting events such as the marathon enables Tadweer to work with like-minded public-sector partners towards building a healthy society that adopts sports as a way of life and understands the importance of physical activity in maintaining public health and fighting chronic diseases. Through promoting healthy lifestyles and improving the quality of life of our population, Tadweer is delivering on its social responsibility goals while building positive community relationships."
Running in conjunction with the 47th UAE National Day and the country’s ongoing Year of Zayed celebrations, the 42.195-kilometre, km, route of the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon will traverse the capital’s key landmarks. In addition to drawing the participation of many well-known professional runners, the event will feature 10- and 5-km races and a 2.5-km ‘fun run’ that allows participants of all ages and abilities the opportunity to get involved in the event. The marathon will offer prizes valued at US$379,000 in total, spread across all race categories.
