ABU DHABI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 23rd Apr, 2019) Ways to accelerate cooperation between the parliaments of UAE and Costa Rica were the main focus of a meeting Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the Federal National Council, FNC, had with Francisco Chacón Hernández, Ambassador of Costa Rica to the UAE, recently.

During their meeting, held at the FNC’s headquarters, both sides agreed on the importance of exchanging parliamentary visits and expertise, and increasing consultations on issues of mutual interest, as well as coordinating their stances toward international parliamentary forums.

Dr. Al Qubaisi highlighted the key role of parliamentary diplomacy and the FNC’s keenness to implement new national policies. She also stressed the importance of encouraging joint parliamentary work by holding meetings, planning strategies, communicating with other communities and parliaments, and participating in regional and international parliamentary events.

Noting the work of relevant friendship committees and the agreement signed by the FNC and the Latin American and IPU Group of Latin America and the Caribbean, Al Qubaisi invited the Speaker of the Parliament of Costa Rica to visit the UAE and the FNC to sign a Memorandum of Understanding and exchange legislative expertise.

Hernández highlighted the importance of accelerating mutual parliamentary visits to strengthening overall relations and parliamentary cooperation between the UAE and Costa Rica, as well as to discussing issues of common interest.
