BEIRUT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 14th May, 2019) The Humanitarian and Development Affairs Mission of the UAE Embassy in Beirut conducted a training course on weaving Arsali heritage carpets, supported by the Sharjah Charity House and in cooperation with the Relief and Humanitarian Aid Authority of Dar Al Fatwa in Lebanon.
A total of 40 Syrian refugees benefitted from the three-month training course and received appreciation certificates confirming that they successfully passed.
Hamad Saeed Sultan Al Shamsi, UAE Ambassador to Beirut, stated that such activities are supported by the UAE through the generosity of Emirati donors, noting that the Sharjah Charity House aims to help marginalised, poor and deprived people, especially uneducated women, by training them to work and enabling them to support themselves, which will change the traditional role of women and make them partners in building communities.
The mission has organised many courses that aim to empower women in marginalised regions.
