UAE Embassy in Riyadh celebrates Emirati-Saudi cultural scene at Year of Tolerance Exhibition

The UAE Embassy in Saudi Arabia today organised, in cooperation with the Fatima bint Mohamed bin Zayed Initiative (FBMI) for traditional Afghan carpet weaving project and development of Afghan countryside

RIYADH, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 08th Apr, 2019) The UAE Embassy in Saudi Arabia today organised, in cooperation with the Fatima bint Mohamed bin Zayed Initiative (FBMI) for traditional Afghan carpet weaving project and development of Afghan countryside, the ''Year of Tolerance Exhibition'', which included artistic shows under the title, "The Peace Carpet Project."

The exhibition aims to highlight the importance of organising programmes to promote culture, as well as the role of economic and business sectors in encouraging, empowering and supporting culture, while affirming the role of innovation and technology in the cultural scene.

The two-day exhibition, which is part of the embassy’s Year of Tolerance celebrations, witnessed the attendance of senior officials, pioneers of knowledge, and the leaders of cultural institutions from both countries, such as the Misk Charitable Foundation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Athr Gallery, Dubai Culture, the Saudi Art Council, and the Saudi Arabian Society for Culture and Arts.

Regarding the exhibition, Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, UAE Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, said, "The UAE’s and Saudi Arabia’s qualitative cultural progress, under the directives of their wise leaderships, is a joint message of tolerance, and its destination is the future, its stage is the world, and its identity is the people everywhere.

The vitality of our cultural action highlights our region’s culture to the world’s peoples, with all colours of the rainbow, and encourages the exchange of ideas, knowledge and communication with the world, with the confidence of the cultured individuals who are in harmony with themselves, and in harmony with their surroundings, believe in their values, and are keen on their identity and are open to the world."

He congratulated Saudi Arabia’s leadership, government and people on the announcement of the Saudi Ministry of Culture regarding its initiatives and programmes that aim to achieve Saudi Vision 2030, and while highlighting the values of diversity, pluralism and openness.

The exhibition featured two main dialogue sessions, which discussed joint sustainable economic development and organising cultural programmes that aim to promote culture. They also focussed on the role of the economic and business sectors in encouraging, empowering and supporting culture though relevant initiatives, events and programmes, as well as the role of innovation and technology in supporting the cultural scene.
