UAE Launches Campaign To Address Dengue Fever Outbreak In Aden

ADEN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 19th Mar, 2019) The UAE, through its humanitarian arm, the Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, highlighted its keenness to combat the recent outbreak of dengue fever in the interim Yemeni capital, Aden.

Mohammed Al Shehhi, ERC Representative, today met with Rashad Shaea, Under-Secretary of Aden Governorate, to discuss ways of implementing a major spray campaign to combat dengue fever, and prevent the further spread of infection.

During the meeting, Al Shehhi highlighted the ERC’s keenness to provide for the campaign's requirements.

Shaea praised the efforts of the ERC team in Aden and thanked the UAE for supporting the Yemeni people.

The UAE’s overall support, through the ERC, for the campaign is part of its ongoing efforts to combat dengue fever, and includes the launch of a centre in Al Jumhouriyah Hospital in 2015, as well as the provision of spraying mechanisms to local authorities in 2016, and the inauguration of a specialist dengue fever centre in Taiz last year.
