ABU DHABI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 16th Oct, 2018) A UAE newspaper has said that the country is blessed with a leadership that looks forward and anticipates the future so that the country leads globally.
"The future lies in technology and the UAE has not only recognised this aspect, but also pressed the 'Smart' keys well ahead of others. It was the UAE that established the very first Artificial Intelligence ministry in the world," The Gulf Today said in an editorial today.
The paper added, "The 38th GITEX Technology Week exhibition, which is being attended by 4,000 governmental and private entities specialised in information technology, artificial intelligence and other technologies, has proved to be the ideal platform to display the best innovations and practices in the digital and smart services.
"The Tech week has opened doors to future with 5G, robotics, internet of Things, virtual and augmented reality and much more. Talk about flying cars and automated pizza delivery carts, everything is unfolding."
It continued, "The highlight among smart projects unveiled by Dubai Police is 'Giath' patrol that includes three intelligent and sophisticated systems: Face Recognition, Traffic Accident, and Vehicle Tracking. The patrol provides the officer in charge with adequate information on the condition of roads, wanted vehicles and persons through a range of surveillance cameras.
"A self-driving car currently in experimental phase will soon be available in tourist areas. It provides 16 smart services of the sophisticated Smart Police Station, including the opening of a criminal report, the payment of traffic fines, and the request of a criminal case certificate."
The Sharjah-based daily went on to note that the Roads and Transport Authority has come out with initiatives that include the test run of the first 'Autonomous taxi' in the region, and the Customers Loyalty Programme known as NOL Plus. "Exhibits include Dubai Metro spare parts manufactured through 3D printing, AI-based automated Chat Bot system and Robotic Cleaners for Dubai Metro stations," it explained.
"The UAE’s success story is intertwined with the vision of Founding Father Sheikh Zayed. Visitors to the Dubai Digital library can access 500 written and visual materials from the Zayed Library on the life of late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan at the venue," it said.
In conclusion, the editorial said, "The UAE’s ambition is to be the world’s number one smart service hub by 2021 and going by the trend, nothing that can stop it from achieving the goal."
