PM concerned over Karachi water issues

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Sep, 2018 ) :Prime Minister Imran Khan Sunday expressed concern over the water issues of Karachi and emphasized on enhanced coordination between Federal and provincial governments for co-funded projects.

He was chairing a meeting on the development projects funded by the federal government here, a PM Office media wing press release said.

The meeting was attended by Sindh Governor Imran Ismail and Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Sindh Chief Secretary Sindh Maj (retd) Azam Sulaiman Khan, Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Sualeh Farooqi, Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar, senior officers of Karachi Water & Sewerage Board and the provincial government.

It was informed that Karachi was facing a water shortage of 573 million gallons per day (MGD) as against the demand of 918 MGD.

The meeting was briefed about the ongoing federal government funded development projects, particularly the Green Line Project and the K-IV Water Supply Project.

While discussing the Green Line Project, the prime minister directed that a representative of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation should be included in its board of directors.
