Russia Records 21,438 New COVID-19 Cases

MOSCOW, Sept. 23 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Sep, 2021 ) --:Russia registered 21,438 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, taking the nationwide tally to 7,354,995, the official monitoring and response center said Thursday.
The nationwide death toll grew by 820 to 201,445, while the total number of recoveries increased by 16,567 to 6,558,780.
Meanwhile, Moscow, Russia's worst-hit region, reported a daily increase of 3,445 new cases, taking its total to 1,611,611.
Anna Popova, head of Russia's consumer rights and human well-being watchdog Rospotrebnadzor, said Wednesday that around 40 million people in the country have been fully vaccinated.
She added that while attitudes towards vaccines have changed, leading to an increase in vaccinations across the country, more people need to get vaccinated before the next possible surge in infections.
Moscow's Deputy Mayor Anastasia Rakova said Wednesday that the capital has seen an increase in cases by 24 percent over the past week, and a rise in hospitalizations by 15 percent.
