Barcelona, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Apr, 2019 ) :
Valencia announced on Tuesday plans to restart work on the club's new stadium which will replace their Mestalla home by 2022.
Original construction on the 'New Mestalla', worth 200
million Euros ($173 million) with a capacity of 75,000, based in the north of the city, was paused in 2009 following the financial crisis.
"Being realistic with the figures, we predict the stadium will be ready for the 2022-2023 season," the club's general director Mateu Alemany said.
He added they were also in a position to sell their current home for more than 100
million euros ($112 million) to a property developer.
Valencia, two-time Champions League runners up, were bought by Singaporean businessman Peter Lim in 2014.
Other La Liga sides such as
Real Madrid and Barcelona have announced plans to renovate their grounds and Atletico Madrid moved into the Wana Metropolitano in 2017.
