ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 31st Oct, 2016 ) : Chairman board of Governors (BoG), Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) Barrister Amjad Malik Monday welcomed the Saudi Arabia's government decision to establish special courts for labourers, saying "it would help resolve the issues of Pakistani labour there".

Talking to APP, he said every year Pakistan sends thousands of workers to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries especially Saudi Arabia and presently 2.6 million Pakistani workers are serving in Saudi Arabia.

Barrister Amjad Malik said special courts will assist the labourers to get justice within no time, promote better living and working conditions for foreign workers and resolve their grievances promptly.

This step would also help them seek compensation in case of breach of contractual obligation by the employer and or employees, he said.

"Pakistan enjoys cordial brotherly relations with Saudi Arabia and such measures will strengthen bilateral ties and pave way to resolve outstanding workers issues", he observed.

According to the official source, special judges will be appointed in these courts which will be established in Jeddah, Damam, Riyadh, Makkah and Madina. While special offices will be established to link the special courts with other courts in the country.

The special courts will start functioning from the current year. For this purpose, 99 Assistant Judges will get training to serve in these courts while more 80 judges will also be appointed.
