Rawalpindi Medical University (RMU) Thursday organized its first convocation of Allied Health Sciences Programmes at the main campus

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Dec, 2017 ) :Rawalpindi Medical University (RMU) Thursday organized its first convocation of Allied Health Sciences Programmes at the main campus.

Around 350 students of 2008 to 13 session were awarded degrees while 52 students were given gold medals for achieving top positions all over the Punjab in the university exams conducted by the university of health sciences.

The position holder students were also awarded certificates of achievement for distinctions in exams and awards of the best graduate. Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division, Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry was the chief guest on the occasion.

Appreciating efforts of the faculty and the students of Institute of Allied Health Sciences (IAHS) he congratulated the graduates on entering the professional lives as the Allied Health Professionals.

He also admired efforts of the RMU for upholding the standards of education and producing qualified and competent heath care professionals to alleviate suffering of the public. "Educated and talented youngsters are future of the country and the incumbent government is focusing on them to brighten their future and the country as well," he said adding, huge investment was made during present regime in education sector to protect future of the country.

He assured his all out support for the RMU saying he would continue to uplift quality education and provision of modern facilities for the students of the university. He congratulated the parents of the graduates and said there was no doubt on the efforts of teachers, support of the parents and said prayers play a key role in the success of the students.

Pakistan had a bright future as it had such a brilliant and hardworking youth, he added. The Vice Chancellor of RMU, Prof Dr Muhammad Umar also appreciated efforts and struggle of the students saying, it was a great moment of joy and jubilation to see the students who had proved their worth in their respective fields due to dedicated efforts and commitment.

The RMU had become number one medical institute among 71 public and private medical colleges in the province, he added. He said it was an honor for the RMU to receive accreditation by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan after its inception and everyone at RMU including faculty and the students proved the merit of the university to achieve this status.

He further said the management of the university was struggling to develop it on scientific lines so that the university could be made one of the top universities of the world which were well-equipped and prepared to meet the future challenges.

Earlier, Dean of the IAHS Prof Dr Atifa Shuaib said IAHS had been imparting quality education and training to its students since 2008 in the fields of Doctor Physiotherapy (DPT) and BSc (Hons) Medical Lab Technologies, Medical Imaging Technologies, Orthotics and Optometry and the IAHS was now ranked among the top few institutes offering Allied Health Sciences Programmes.

She informed that the Institute would soon offer post graduate programmes in the different disciplines of the Allied Health Sciences. She also thanked the administration and the government for continuous support in uplifting the standards of education and the institute of the Allied Health Sciences at RMU.
