421,224 voters ready to decide fate of 18 candidates in Lakki Marwat

As less than one week is left in 2018 general election, electioneering pace has reached to climax in Lakki Marwat district where 421,224 registered voters are ready to decide fate of 18 candidates eying on lone NA-36 constituency on July 25, 2018.

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Jul, 2018 ) :As less than one week is left in 2018 general election, electioneering pace has reached to climax in Lakki Marwat district where 421,224 registered voters are ready to decide fate of 18 candidates eying on lone NA-36 constituency on July 25, 2018.

As election is approaching nearer, candidates of political parties and independents expedited door to door campaigns besides addressing public rallies and corner meetings till late night to attract attention of voters in the last five days.

A visit to Lakki Marwat revealed that a total of 18 candidates are flexing muscle for lone NA-36 constituency including 12 independents. The main contenders are former District Nazim Ashfaq Ahmed Khan Minakhel of PTI, Moulana Muhammad Anwar Khan of MMA, Inamullah Khan of PPP and Imranullah Khan of PMLN.

However, one-on-one contest is expected between Ashfaq Ahmed Khan Minakhel of PTI and Maulana Muhammad Anwar of MMA, who are enjoying support of strong barardies and religious votes bank respectively.

Minakhel is a strong candidate as he carried significant development work in constituency when he was a district nazim.

During his tenure as district nazim, Minakhel carried out a lot of uplift works both in Lakki City and rural areas, including pavement of streets, water supply schemes, provision of gas and electricity to the residents of urban locality. He approved a third power feeder for the city by using the influence of Saifullah's brothers.

Former PTI MNA Col (r) Amirullah Marwat and Marwat Ittehad Group (MIG) led by Salim Saifullah Khan has also announced support for Minakhel.

MMA's Maulana Muhammad Anwar is a new comer in electoral politics as he had spent nearly 40 years teaching religious education in local seminaries. He had thousands of followers and pupils in the district, who are the major vote bank of MMA. Anwar is also being supported by Jumat e Islami, JUIF and other religious parties.

JUI-F leader Maulana Attaur Rehman has also approached spiritual leader of Zakori family, Pir Mohammad Fawad Raza Zakori, in DI Khan to get his support for MMA candidates in Lakki District.

Maulana Amanullah Khan of MMA had won this constituency in 2002 election after securing 65938 voters against runner up Anwar Saifullah Khan of PML-Q of 41171 votes.

In 2008 General Election, Hamanyun Saifullah Khan of PML had secured victory after obtaining 61303 votes against runner up Dr Khalid Raza Zakori of MMA with 52315 votes.

JUIF Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman had contested 2013 election from this constituency and secured easy victory after obtaining 85051 votes, defeating PMLN's Salim Saifullah Khan of 46824 votes.

This seat was later vacated by Maulana Fazlur Rehman and was clinched by PTI's Amirullah Marwat with 63922 votes against runner up JUIF's Attaur Rehman of 56948 votes in the by-election.

Similarly tough electoral battle is expected between candidates on there PK seats in Lakki Marwat.

As many as 17 candidates including 13 independents are eying on PK-91 Lakki Marwat, however, tough electoral fight is expected among PTI's Johar Muhammad, MMA's Munawar Khan advocate, independents Najeebullah Khan Gandapur and Akhtar Munir Khan Miankhel.

The total registered voters in this constituency are 149882 including 82297 make and 67585 female that would decide fate of candidates.

Likewise, on PK-92 Lakki Marwat, 20 candidates including 14 independents are flexing muscles whose fate would be decided by 150906 registered voters including 83432 male and 67474 female. However, PTI's Hasham Inamullah Khan and MMA's Noor Salim Malik is strong candidates for this constituency.

As many as 21 candidates including 13 independents are eying for PK-93 Lakki Marwat where close contest is expected among PTI's Tariq Saeed, MMA's Anwar Hayat, ANP's Sadruddin Khan and independent Zafarullah Khan Marwat and their fate would be decided by 120436 voters. The Election Commission has established 394 polling stations for facilitation of voters.

All the polling stations were being equipped with water, shelters, chairs, tables, washrooms and others necessary facilities so that voters can exercise their right of franchise in a peaceful atmosphere on July 25, 2018.
