Islamabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 16th March, 2019) At least six Pakistanis have been confirmed as dead in the New Zealand shooting.
Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal gave a list of the six persons who have been announced dead by New Zealand authorities.
These include Sohail Shahid, Syed Jahandad Ali, Syed Areeb Ahmed, Mahboob Haroon, Naeem Rashid and his son Talha Naeem.
At least four Pakistanis were injured while nine others were missing in the Christchurch attack in New Zealand.
Other three missing are still being identified, the foreign office said.
Two Pakistanis were already confirmed to have been killed in the New Zealand attack.
New Zealand authorities informed that Naeem Rashid, hailing from Abbottabad, Pakistan was killed along with his 18-year-old son Talha Naeem in the mosque attack.
Naeem’s family said that the New Zealand authorities have formally called his wife to inform about their death.
Naeem was killed while trying to stop the terrorist who opened fire at the mosque. His son Talha was also killed along with him.
Pakistan's Deputy High Commissioner in Wellington is making all-out efforts to find the missing Pakistanis.
New Zealand was struck by two deadly attacks in Christchurch on Friday, with 49 people killed and another 20 seriously injured after gun assaults on mosques as Muslims worshipped.
During afternoon prayers on Friday, a gunman opened fire inside the Masjid al Noor mosque in central Christchurch, killing 41. Another seven were killed at a second mosque five kilometres away in suburban Linwood, three of them outside the building.
