7,000 Policemen Performing Security Duty During Muharram

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Sep, 2018 ) :Around 7,000 policemen, besides personnel of army and Rangers, will be deployed in the Rawalpindi district to ensure security during the Muharram-ul-Harram.
Besides holding of Majalis, some 316 mourning processions are reported to be brought till the 10th of Muharram. Under the security plan chalked out by the district police, no one will be allowed to stand on rooftops of commercial and residential buildings situated along the routes of mourning processions and carry weapons.
According to a police spokesman, the Rawalpindi Police had finalized all the arrangements to maintain peace during the Muharram and 7,000 policemen, volunteers, elite force and lady police would be deployed to give security cover to the processions.
Special checking of the procession routes would be completed after clearance by the bomb disposal squad and there would also be aerial surveillance of mourning processions to ensure foolproof security.
CCTV cameras and walk-through gates would be installed to provide complete security cover to the mourners.
City Police Officer Ahsan Abbas had held meetings with Ulema, traders and District Peace Committee members.
