9 Electricity Thieves Held

The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has apprehended nine electricity thieves from its various circles in raids during second week of December in its ongoing crack-down against power pilferers
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Dec, 2017 ) :The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has apprehended nine electricity thieves from its various circles in raids during second week of December in its ongoing crack-down against power pilferers.
The IESCO spokesman told APP that some five culprits were held from Jhelum and two each from Attock and Chakwal circles. They were involved in power theft through direct line (Kunda System) and by breaking security strip of the meter, he added.
He said FIRs had been lodged against power thieves under the new electricity (Amendment) Act. Meanwhile, IESCO Chief Baist Zaman instructed all field formation to spend time in field and check meter of all tariffs so that electricity theft could be eliminated.
Anti-electricity theft activities would continue till complete elimination. The IESCO chief also warned IESCO employees if anyone found involved in electricity theft, strict legal and departmental action would initiated against him.
