92 Arrested In Crackdown Against Power Pilferers In Peshawar

District administration Peshawar and Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) officers Wednesday arrested 92 persons in a crackdown against power pilferers in various localities of the provincial metropolis.
On the directives of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Peshawar Dr. Imran Hamid Sheikh, the Additional Assistant Commissioner (AAC) Abdul Wali along with Sub-Divisional Officers (SDOs), PESCO Naveed Khan and Khalid Khan conducted raids against power thieves and kunda mafia in Warsak Road, Darmangi, Palosai, Regi and other areas arrested power pilferers.
Similarly, AAC Hamayun Khan along with SDOs Sajid Bahadar and Asif Khan carried out checking in Chamkani, Baghbanan and Dalazak Road.
The joint teams arrested 92 persons for getting direct power supply and not payment of arrears while millions of rupees were also recovered in head of arrears.
Due to the lack of payment power supply from 22 transformers was suspended and the defaulters were issued standing orders for immediate payment of their arrears.
Meanwhile, in a joint statement, DC Peshawar Dr. Imran Hamid Sheikh and Superintendent Engineer (SE), PESCO (Khyber) Tahir Jamal said that the crackdown against power pilferers and kunda mafia under the supervision of district administration was continued without any leniency with anyone.
They requested the people to download Pakistan Citizen Portal on their mobile phone to registercomplaints against power thieves and give information regarding power pilferers.
