About 80 Km Portion Of M-9 To Be Opened For Traffic In Coming Few

ISLAMABAD, Jan 5 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 05th Jan, 2017 ) : About 80 kilomtre of the 132- kilometre-long Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway (M-9) has been completed and would be and opened for traffic within coming few days.
An official of National Highway Authority told APP that a major portion of the motorway, which is about 80 kilometres, will be opened for traffic in coming week or so, the official said. Super Highway Construction Operation and Rehabilitation Engineering Limited (SCORE) which is a subsidiary of Frontier Works Organization,is converting the existing Super Highway into Motorway.
This project involves converting existing 136 km long 4-lane Karachi-Hyderabad Superhighway into 6 lane motorway,on build,operate, and transfer basis.
The work on M-9 commenced on August 7, 2015.
The Super Highway begins north of Karachi at the end of Mohammad Ali Jinnah Road, near junction of Karachi Northern Bypass (also known as M-10). It is connected with the Karachi Northern Bypass with a trumpet interchange.Then it continues out of the city.
From there it continues on a north-east track and forms a junction with the N-5 via a link road. The highway ends outside of Hyderabad, in the suburban town of Kotri with a cloverleaf interchange where it merges into the N-5.
The M-9 Motorway will have seven inter-changes, two service areas at the midway points and 16 toll plazas on entry and exit points. APP/mhn/aa/kmd � 19:55/20:28/20:28
