Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar hosted an Iftar dinner to more than 5000 labourers, workers and staff of Pakistan Railways at the lawns of Governor House on Saturday.
Lahore (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 19th May, 2019) Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar had banned Iftar parties at the official expenses in the province.
The ban is applicable to ministers, secretaries and other government officials of the Punjab province. Being custodian of the national resources, an austerity drive has been made a fundamental part of the government policies, the chief minister said.
Meanwhile, Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar hosted an Iftar dinner to more than 5000 labourers, workers and staff of Pakistan Railways at the lawns of Governor House on Saturday.
Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad also attended the the Iftar dinner.
This raised eyebrows as to this Iftar dinner might have been arranged from official expenses.
However, the Punjab governor termed the criticism as fake propaganda and said that the Iftar was arranged by his own pocket.
"sad to see false propaganda being spread abt iftaars @ Gov House. I have repeatedly said that these iftaars are at "ZERO" cost to Govt & Taxpayers; they are funded by me & my generous friends. In line w the spirit of Ramadan, I"ll continue to host public/PTI workers at Gov House!" he wrote on Twitter.
