ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Jul, 2025) Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiatives, Prof. Ahsan on Sunday lauded the introduction of a seed-based cotton crop after two decades, emphasizing its resilience to heat, weather fluctuations and the broader impacts of climate change

During his visit to a farm house in Lahore, Ahsan Iqbal stressed the need for stronger coordination between provincial agriculture ministers and the federal government for the adoption of advanced, climate-resilient agricultural practices in the country, a private news channel reported.

He highlighted that the agricultural sector, which is already vulnerable to shifting weather patterns, requires a collective approach to develop sustainable solutions that can safeguard food security and ensure long-term

productivity.

With a unified response, he believes the nation can build a more resilient agricultural sector and protect the livelihoods of farmers across Pakistan.

This breakthrough, he stated, marks a major advancement in combating the unpredictable climate conditions affecting agriculture.

Replying to a question, he added that the newly developed cotton variety is expected to thrive in harsh conditions, offering improved yields and reduced vulnerability to droughts and extreme temperatures, he mentioned.
