AIDS Could Be Prevented Through Awareness Drive: Minister

Punjab Minister for Human Rights and Minorities Affairs (HR&MA) Aijaz Alam Augustine Saturday said that youth could play a vital role in progress of the country through their hard work.
He said that deadly disease AIDS could be prevented through an awareness campaign among masses and for the purpose, youth would have to take special interest.
He expressed these views while participating in a seminar, organised by the University of Central Punjab (UCP) regarding awareness of AIDS at university's auditorium. Professor Dr M Zafarullah, Dean Faculty of Pharmacy Dr M Jamshaid, Dr Nooruz-Zaman, Dr Sadia, renowned actor Rashid Mahmood and large number of students of the university participated in the seminar.
Prof Dr M Zafarullah briefed all participants about the causes of AIDS and ways of prevention.
Minister Aijaz Alam, during his address, said that Pakistan is in the list of those countries where condition of HIV and hepatitis is in dangerous shape. But with the help of the young generation, people could be saved from the deadly disease.
He said that the frequency of these types of awareness seminars should be enhanced and in universities, a better platform could be provided.
At the end of the seminar, a shield was presented to the provincial minister by the UCP administration.
