AJK Higher Education Institutions To Mark August 5 As Black Day

MIRPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Aug, 2024) All higher education institutions in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), including eight public and private sector universities and colleges, are set to observe August 5 as Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir (Exploitation Day) and Black Day. This move is to condemn India's revocation of Article 370 and 35-A, which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir, five years ago.

A series of events, including protest demonstrations, seminars, and symposia, have been organized to mark the day. Students and faculty members will participate in these events, exposing India's "fascist" and "hindutva" conspiracies against the Kashmiri freedom struggle.

When contacted, Secretary to the AJK Government for Higher Education Muhammad Tayyeb told APP over telephone on Saturday that a grand seminar will be held at the University of Azad Jammu Kashmir, featuring experts and scholars who will discuss India's expansionist designs and discrimination against minorities. Webinars and special programs will also be held at other universities, including Mirpur University of Science & Technology, Poonch University, and Women University.
