AJK PM Advises Early Restoration Of Land-slided Muzaffarabad-Rawalpindi Highway For Traffic

MIRPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Aug, 2024) Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq on Saturday directed the concerned state authorities to take all possible immediate measures to clear the landslide area and restore normal flow of traffic on the busiest ancient Muzaffarabad-Rawalpindi highway.

He said this after inspecting a landslide-hit area near Dulai that blocked the Muzaffarabad-Rawalpindi highway from all sorts of traffic on Saturday. 

The highway is lying blocked following heavy land sliding at various sites since torrential intermittent rains badly hit almost the entire Azad Jammu and Kashmir for the past couple of weeks. 

Speaking on the occasion, the AJK PM said that the landslide debris should be cleared as soon as possible to restore normal traffic flow on the highway.

He ordered that traffic should be diverted towards alternative routes so that people do not face any kind of problem.

On this occasion, the AJK PM was given a detailed briefing on the measures being taken by the state disaster management authority. DG SDMA told the PM that the administration, officials, and staff of all the relevant departments were present at the spot, and heavy machinery was being used to clear the debris.

Chief Secretary Dawood Muhammad Barich, Director General of the of the State Disaster Management Authority Masoodur Rahman, and other senior officials of the concerned institutions were also present on the occasion.
